Gas Explosion Injures Eight Firefighters

Eight firefighters and one gas utility employee were injured in a gas explosion at a Forestville, Md., strip mall on May 7, 2009. A CBS/Associated Press account stated that two firefighters were admitted to the burn unit at a local hospital, while the others were treated, then released. Firefighters had responded to the scene of the early afternoon incident after receiving a report of a gas leak. The explosion was recorded on a fire truck dashboard camera.
