Home Explodes; Gas Leak Suspected

American Energy Coalition - August 6th, 2009

Investigators suspect that a natural gas leak caused a house to explode in Longview, Texas, sending debris throughout the neighborhood, according to an Associated Press account. Dorothy Chandler, the 83-year-old homeowner, and her 65-year-old son were trapped in the rubble until firefighters pulled them out shortly after the 1 a.m. explosion. Officials briefly evacuated about 10 nearby homes, some of which suffered minor damage.
