Eight Die in Gas Pipeline Explosion

A thunderous gas pipeline explosion in San Bruno, Calif., killed eight people, injured dozens and sparked a fireball that destroyed 38 homes. California Lieutenant Governor Abel Maldonado, standing in for Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, said he wanted to know more about reports of people calling Pacific Gas & Electric Co. about smelling gas prior to the explosion. "The investigation is going on," Maldonado told Reuters. "There is going to be some accountability. The pipeline is owned by PG&E." (Read more)
